Tulisa Contostavlos was told by an undercover reporter from The Sun, masquerading as a producer, that she would be “more suitable” for his film than Keira Knightley and Kate Winslet, Southwark Crown Court heard today.

Mazher Mahmood, who used the pseudonym Samir Khan, told the singer that she could star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in a “big production”.

“It is clear the defendant was very keen to break into films and she and her manager swallowed the story completely,” said prosecutor Timothy Cray.

Contostavlos is accused of helping supply 0.5oz cocaine to the reporter at the Dorchester Hotel for £860 last May – allegations that she denies.

The court heard how the singer met with Mahmood in Las Vegas and Mayfair to discuss her film career.

A tape was played in which Contostavlos promised the ‘producer’ “white sweets” for a “lad’s night out”, which the prosecution said was their code name for cocaine. “Green sweets” was code for cannabis.

She allegedly said her ex-boyfriend, Adam Bailey, could supply cocaine and that she used to be part of a gang that supplied crack.

The case continues.
