This is, incredulously, what Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie did when she appeared on Kim and Dave on local Australian radio station Hobart’s Heart FM 107.3 this week.
When asked about her single status (she hasn’t been in a relationship for 11 years), she told the station’s hosts that she was “depleted” of energy after having had two sons and began listing what she was looking for in a partner. Why this is relevant to her political efforts is unfathomable, but off she went.
“They must have heaps of cash and they’ve got to have a package between their legs, let’s be honest,” she said.
“And I don’t need them to speak, they don’t even need to speak. The perfect man.”
A 22-year-old carpenter called Jamie then called the show as a potential suitor.
“I’m just a bit concerned that at 22 years old and living in Tasmania, you might not be there yet,” said Lambie.
Could he handle the demands of dating a powerful 43-year-old woman? “I’ve been about a fair bit, ay,” Jamie said.
Then came the real killer question:
“Are you well hung?” asked the Tasmanian federal senator for Tasmania.
“Like a donkey,” Jamie replied.
“I’ve got a 24-year-old son who says that, he reckons he is as well,” she responded.
Unsurprisingly, Lambie quickly began to perhaps regret their very public dialogue and issued an apology.
“When Kim and Dave on Hobart’s Heart FM 107.3 this morning asked me about my love life in a light hearted segment — I tried to cover up my embarrassment by making a joke,” she said.
“A lot of people laughed — including the tradie I was talking to — some people may have got offended.
“I apologise to any radio listeners who may be offended by my comments on Kim and Dave’s show.”
