From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Stephen Fry may have tied the knot with Elliott Spencer on Saturday, but that doesn't mean life's all first-class flights to the Seychelles for the couple.
The actor, 57, married his partner Spencer, 27, in a small registry-office ceremony, thought to have taken place in Breckland Business Centre in Dereham, Norfolk, on Saturday.
And the day after the wedding was similarly low-key.
The couple, who have been dating since spring last year, tweeted news of their wedding over the weekend:
News of their wedding was retweeted more than 11,000 times by well-wishers.
Fry is a long-time lover of the sport, and once described Ronnie O'Sullivan as the "Mozart of snooker", and is a regular talking-head expert about the sport for the BBC. Which means that Spencer might end up spending more time than he'd like in the green room of the Crucible over the coming years.
