But the singer is not beyond dishing “the sexual dirt on everyone I've ever slept with”, she has said.
O’Connor is set to discuss her intimate and romantic encounters in a candid new memoir to be published in March 2016.
Her first book, it will follow the trials and trepidations of her life up to the release of her 2014 album I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss.
“I’ve never stopped expressing myself in my music, and now, with a book,” the 47-year-old star said of the Penguin Group (UK) and Blue Rider (US) launch in a statement.
According to Blue Rider’s press release, the story will trace her “turbulent upbringing in Ireland; her breakout as an artist with 1987’s The Lion and the Cobra and her nine subsequent albums; her controversial opinions and actions, as well as her personal and musical struggles and triumphs, through the present day”.
Micheel McLoughlin, the managing director of Penguin Ireland, predicted “enormous interest” in the book ahead of its sale.
O’Connor’s life has been dramatic in recent years. She suffered a nervous breakdown in 2012, has admitted attempting to take her own life and spoken about receiving hospital treatment for serious mental health issues.
She has also married for a fourth time.
O’ Connor now famously offered to mentor fellow singer Miley Cyrus last year, after she feared the pop star had allowed herself to be exploited by record companies and pressurised into presenting an overtly sexual side of herself following her performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs 2013.
