Sean Price, the New York rapper and member of hip-hop groups Heltah Skeltah, Boot Camp Clik and Random Axe has died, aged 43.

The musician, also known as Ruck from his time with the Boot Camp Clik, passed away at home in his apartment in Brooklyn, New York, according to reports.

The cause of death is unknown, but it is believed that he died in his sleep.

Price's representative told E! News: “It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment”

“The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He's survived by his wife, and his three children.”

American record producer and DJ, DJ Premier, made the first announcement about Prince’s death, according to Rolling Stone, posting on Insatgram:“R.I.P. Ruck… Love and Respect to The Duck Down Family!!! #SeanPrice.”

Price's wife seemingly confirmed the rapper's death on Facebook, HiphopDX reported, but the post has since been deleted.

Price rose to prominence as a member of the duo Heltah Skeltah in the 1990s alongside Jahmal Bush. The duo were also members of a hip-hop collective known as the Boot Camp Clik.

The rapper went on to launch a solo career as Sean Price, releasing three studio albums, Monkey Bar, Jesus Price Superstar and Mic Tyson between 2005 and 2012.
