From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tsui, who is best known for posting his music videos and covers of popular songs on his channel, revealed the details about his personal life for the first time in a vlog on Friday.
In a vlog, which he labelled an understated “coming out video of a sort”, Tsui announced he is in a long-term relationship with fellow Youtuber and musician Casey Breves.
The couple actually married the day after the video was posted as Breves shared a photo of the two of them on their wedding day on Saturday.
In the “coming out video”, Tsui said he hadn’t thought it was necessary to discuss his personal life before as it never really had much to do with his music, but reiterated that although he waited to discuss it openly he was not ashamed.
“Waiting to tell you guys about this does not mean that I am or was ashamed of anything. I am incredibly proud of who I am and very proud of my relationship with Casey”, he said. “I also never really felt the need to do a big teary coming out video because honestly in my daily life it’s such a non-issue and such a small facet of who I am.”
Tsui writes and performs his own music but also is known for his covers of artists like Adele and Justin Bieber and mash-ups of popular songs. Breves is also a singer and has featured in several of Tsui’s videos including a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” which has been viewed over 30 million times.
A number of other prominent Youtube stars have chosen vlogging as their medium to publicly discuss their sexuality and advocate for LGBT rights. Last year, beauty Youtuber Ingrid Nilsen came out in an emotionally charged video which has since been viewed over 14 million times.
In 2012, Ricky Martin credited the hugely popular openly gay Youtuber Tyler Oakley for helping him come out with a video he recorded in 2008 to mark National Coming Out Day.
