From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ryan Gosling fans have already began queuing to meet the wax version of their hero at Madame Tussauds, which was unveiled yesterday in London.
The life-size figurine equivalent of Gosling is now available to be drooled and wept over like the One Direction waxworks that went before him. The museum was forced to enlist a tissue attendant to help console hysterical fans.
Gosling of Tussauds is only on display for the summer months, which has only heightened his appeal.
“It's only been one day, but already the reception towards our brand new Ryan Gosling wax figure has been excellent,” said Matthew Clarkson, Madame Tussauds London marketing manager.
“The figure is actually only with us for the summer so people are very keen to visit before he leaves. It's too early to say if the impact will rival the One Direction phenomena, but we can certainly say the figure has been one of the most popular in the attraction for selfies today, so watch out 1D!”
Gosling caused an outcry among women all over the globe after it was strongly rumoured that he and his girlfriend, Eva Mendes, are having a baby.
The news coincided with Brazil’s humiliating defeat against Germany, but the distress of World Cup host nation was nothing compared to that of Gosling’s bereft fans.
“Take the pain of #Brazil's loss and multiply it by every ovary on Earth... Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are having a baby. #LetTheRiotsBegin,” said one upset tweeter.
Another said: “Fact: there are more girls crying in the world right now over Ryan Gosling than people who cried in Brazil yesterday.”
