Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The 'Queens of Clean, Kim Woodburn, 64, and Aggie MacKenzie, 51, who present 'How Clean Is Your House' on Channel 4, are preparing for the launch next year of their eco-friendly cleaning product range, Squeeki Clean.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be ...

Kim: At home with my husband and cat Daisy watching television.

Aggie: I'd probably be at Borough market buying yummy things to eat.

A phrase I use far too often is...

Kim: "Dear" ... everyone is "dear". Even my husband complains when he hears me say it. Half the time I don't even realise that I have.

Aggie: "For the love of God" and "Christ almighty". I swear like a trooper.

I wish people would take more notice of ...

Kim: Courtesy. It's in short supply today. Years ago, you would walk down the street and a neighbour or passer-by would tip their hat or acknowledge you, even if they didn't know you. These days, everyone is in such a hurry that they don't take the time to be courteous.

Aggie: The amount of packaging that is manufactured only to be thrown away.

The most surprising thing that ever happened to me was ...

Kim: Getting a TV job at the age of 61. It's a miracle. I still can't believe that it's happening.

Aggie: We were at a party in New York and Kelsey Grammer, who plays Frasier, was there. He came over and said how much he loved our TV show. I couldn't believe it. I had a smile on my face for the rest of the day.

A common misperception of me is....

Kim: That I am like my TV persona in reality. People couldn't be further from the truth. I'm not at all like the person you see in public - it's all an act. I actually lead a very quiet, private life.

Aggie: That I'm a clean freak. I'm not at all obsessed with cleanliness, although I do like to have a clean house.

I am not a politician but ...

Kim: Some of the decisions made by our so-called MPs are ludicrous. Our law and order is a farce. I haven't seen a policeman in six months.

Aggie: I would raise the congestion charge for people driving on their own in SUVs. They are so unnecessary.

I'm good at ...

Kim: I'm very good at housework. If there's housework that needs doing, then I'm happy.

Aggie: Making scones. I absolutely love to bake.

I'm very bad at...

Kim: I have a very quick temper. I don't mean what I say and it's all over very quickly, but when it comes it is terrible.

Aggie: Being consistent with my children.

The best age to be is...

Kim: Forty. Not too young and not too old.

Aggie: The age you are.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:

Kim: Don't do tricks on people. I could never do the dirty on someone.

Aggie: Live everyday as if it's your last. It's a cliché I know, but so, so true.
