The 5-minute Interview: Christine Bleakley, TV presenter
'A flock of geese on my granny's farm decided to sample me for lunch'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...
If I was off work, I'd be ironing. I know it's boring but I'm madly obsessed with ironing.
A phrase I use too often...
"I don't believe you!" I say it either in a shocked way or a joking way. It's a Northern Irish thing.
I wish people would take more notice of...
Their manners when driving. I never expect a huge amount of gratitude but if you give way to someone, it would be nice to have some acknowledgement.
The most surprising thing that happened to me was...
I've a massive scar on my right arm which I got years ago when a flock of geese on my granny's farm decided to sample me for lunch. I've been petrified of birds ever since.
A common misperception of me is...
A lot of people assume that if you're young and in telly then you don't have a brain. I'd like to think that's not the case.
I am not a politician but...
I would make sure firefighters, paramedics, doctors, nurses and binmen were the most highly paid professions. I think they deserve more than the rest of us.
I'm good at...
Cleaning. I enjoy having the place looking nice.
I'm very bad at...
Planning. I need deadlines. I do everything at the last minute.
My philosophy is this:
Always stay humble and you never have far to fall, and be grateful for what you have.
