The 5-minute Interview: Chris Peck, Musician
'The ultimate high is playing gigs in good company in a great bar'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The east London four-piece Boy Kill Boy won acclaim in May 2005 when they replaced a mumps-afflicted Nine Black Alps at the NME Music Tour. Since then they have released a top-20 album, 'Civilian', and toured the US. Their second album, 'Stars and the Sea' is out now
If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...
Asleep. We had quite a big night last night you do gigs and afterwards you just celebrate all night.
I wish people would take more notice of...
Artists that write their own music, rather than see-through plastic trash which is regurgitated. It does seem to me that there are many bands around nowadays that don't write their own music.
The most surprising thing that happened to me was...
Probably playing a gig and not realising people were dressed in Halloween outfits. I thought it was just their regular clothes. The most amusing was the pair dressed as a cat and a mouse.
A common misperception of me is...
I don't know and don't really care. I'm just not interested in what people think about me.
I am not a politician but...
It's best we stop launching into other countries and interfering.
I'm good at...
Writing songs and I'm also good at making people feel like they are special and realising who my mates are.
I'm very bad at...
Interviews, working for other people and following rules and regulations.
The ideal night out is...
All our band together with the extended family and going out afterwards. The ultimate high is playing gigs in good company in a great bar and being in a middle of a journey that is moving forwards and not backwards.
You know me as a member of Boy Kill Boy but in a truer life I'd have been...
This is true life for me.
The best age to be is...
There's no such thing. You're never happy with what you are you always want to be older or younger.
In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:
If it feels good then you should just go for it. I want to be remembered for being honest.
