A Quick Chat With: Camilla Dallerup
‘I really like Wellies’
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dancer Camilla Dallerup waltzed actor Tom Chambers onto the winner’s podium in 2008. The Danish-born beauty, who is also a dance teacher and model, took part in the first 6 series’ of the BBC dance talent show, but announced she was hanging up her sequin shoes last 2009 and won’t be competing again. She lives in Surrey with her fiancé, Hollyoaks actor Kevin Sacre.
If I weren’t talking to you right now I’d be… finishing preparing for a photo shoot about fitness, which I’m doing tomorrow.
A phrase I use far too often is… are you serious? That’s what I said when Kevin [Sacre, Hollyoaks actor] proposed to me. Are you serious? Really?!
I wish people would take more notice of… the environment.
A common misperception of me is… that I always wear sequins.
The most surprising thing that happened to me was… Kevin getting down on one knee! [Laughs]
The most surprising thing about me is… that I really like wellies. People think that because I’m always dolled up in sequins that I won’t like the outdoors. But I love going walking in my wellies.
I’m not a politician but… I do have an opinion.
I’m good at… being honest.
I’m bad at… lying. Or pretending I like something when I don’t.
My ideal night out is… a night in. With good friends and good wine.
In moments of weakness I… cry. I can get very emotional.
My view about Facebook and Twitter is… I love Twitter and don’t have time for Facebook.
The best age to be is… in your 30s.
In a nutshell, my philosophy is… do it now because you’ll regret it later if you don’t.
Camilla Dallerup is promoting dancechampions.org, a UK-wide website which helps potential dancers find local classes.
