From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Prince William caught up with Gary Lineker for a special BBC interview ahead of the FA Cup between Aston Villa and Arsenal on Saturday, where he’s charged with the task of presenting the trophy to the winning captain.
On whether he’d be taking young Prince George to Villa Park any time soon, he said: “I don’t know, I’ll have to pass that by the missus, see how I can get away with it!”
“At the moment, being only 22 months, it’s a little bit early.”
However, he says, he will be encouraging his heir to support the team.
“The responsible thing would be to say, to let him make his own mind up, but I think I might be quite biased,” he said.
“I haven’t quite worked out how to play that yet. But, of course he can support whoever he wants, but if he supports Villa, it’d be fantastic. I’d love to go to the odd match with him in the future.”
Of course, Prince William isn't the only high profile person who has admitted to supporting Villa. Once they remembered that they supported Villa and not West Ham, that is.
