Your support makes all the difference.Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson have resumed their very public spat after both attended The Emirates stadium in London to watch a bore-draw between Arsenal and Chelsea.
Just a couple of days after the former Mirror editor claimed that Clarkson had “permanently scarred” him in a drunken incident at the British Press Awards, the pair exchanged less than complimentary tweets before the game.
Morgan, an Arsenal fan, called the ex-Top Gear presenter a “jobless vagrant” and later joked about the “fracas” that saw Clarkson lose his job, saying: “All kicking off in the Diamond Club. Clarkson just got served a cold steak..”
Clarkson, possibly pre-empting a meeting, tweeted a picture showing the first four letters of the “Arsenal” name emblazoned outside the stadium and wrote: “I’m here and have bumped into @Piersmorgan.”
A fellow Chelsea fan later joked that Clarkson should have: “bumped into him with a left-right combination followed by an uppercut”.
Neither TV personality will have much to brag about from their sides after a dreary display of football – though Clarkson can at least proclaim Chelsea all-but-guaranteed winners of the title.
Both men seem happy to continue joking about their occasionally violent meetings, with Clarkson’s publicist telling this newspaper that the incident at the Press Awards was just “a girlie slap”.
Asked on an upcoming episode of a Saturday night entertainment show, Play to the Whistle, if there was the potential for another high-profile bust-up, Morgan replied: “There’s still time.”
