The rapper-cum-actor famous for portraying The Notorious B.I.G. has been arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident in front of his stepson.

Jamal Woolard, 38, was arrested Saturday night in Gwinnett County, Georgia, TMZ reported.

According to the website, law enforcement sources said police received a call from a child claiming that his father had hit his mother.

Woolard, who raps under the name Gravy, was booked for battery, cruelty to children, and simple assault.

The actor is best known for playing Biggie Smalls in the 2009 film Notorious, about the life and murder of the US rapper.

It is not the first time Woolard has been involved in alleged domestic violence. In September 2008, the then 33-year-old was arrested on suspicion of hitting his wife inside their East New York home, the New York Post reported.

According to court papers, Woolard was charged with misdemeanour assault, menacing and harassment.
