Nick Cave and his wife Susie have released a statement after their 15-year-old son Arthur died in a fall from a cliff in Brighton, Sussex.

Sussex police confirmed to The Independent that Arthur Cave died after falling from the cliff at Ovingdean Gap.

In a family statement, Nick and Susie said: "Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy loving boy.

"We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time."

The teenager, who had a twin brother, Earl, was found by members of the public on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap at approximately 6pm on Tuesday.

Although first aid was carried out at the scene, the 57-year-old performer's son later died from his injuries in the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
