Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The hotel heiress - who turns 30 on Thursday - says her career is going well, she's in a great relationship with Cy Waits and is fitter than ever because her nightclub manager boyfriend has become her personal trainer.
In an interview with heat magazine, she said: "Life is great at the moment! I have my new show, 'The World According To Paris', starting soon; things with my boyfriend are great; and now I have a new weekly workout, which I love.
"Me and Cy have been training together for the past three months. It's all new to me. I used to hate working out, but I started because it was something we could do together. I wanted to try something he enjoyed. He makes it fun for me.
"It's great, because I get to spend time with Cy and we're so happy together. We're either in the gym or playing tennis and are always laughing, so the time just flies. And now I've realised how important it is to look after my body."
Because of her new fitness regime, Paris now feels very confident with her toned body, and has come to appreciate that she must treat it with respect.
She said: "Getting fit has given me the energy I need to cope with
my hectic life.
"I'm seeing lots of great changes! For the first time in my whole life, I feel really fit. I have lots more muscle tone all over my body. I've totally cut out fast food and sodas. Pretty much everything I eat now is organic."
