It’s been a challenging week for the usually boundlessly energetic Miley Cyrus, after bereavement left her in tears mid-gig.
Yesterday, she tweeted news that her dog had died and broke down on stage, before performing a touching yet perhaps unnecessary tribute to her pet, Floyd – Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, apparently a favourite song of both the animal and pop star. She avoided any twerking (watch the film below) .
“I’m sure you guys already know, but the reason that I’m so upset is my dog,” Miley said through tears.
“I shouldn’t say he was my favourite but he was my favourite, he passed away. I just want to do a song for him. We used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together, it’s his favourite song.”
The singer warned her Twitter fans ahead of the Boston gig that she may not be on top form. She dramatically described the day as the “third worst” of her life so far.
She also sang an impassioned cover of Coldplay’s The Scientist , when she was joined by her little sister, Noah, who was there for moral support. The gig was part of her much-talked-about Bangerz tour.
Cyrus has had her Alaskan Klee Kai dog since 2011. Rest in peace.
