From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Your support makes all the difference.Miley Cyrus customised and donated three Vanity Fair covers of Caitlyn Jenner for the AmfAR ball, raising tens of thousands for charity in the process.
The controversial singer and performer, 22, a vocal supporter of the LGBT community, posted an Instagram last week appearing to show the “werk in progress”.
Last night, the official AmfAR Instagram account posted an image of the three covers of Jenner, each of which had been signed by the reality TV star and former athlete.
“The Caitlyn Collection,” as the covers were dubbed, had been customised by Cyrus with paint, feathers, and glitter.
Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, is an Olympic winning athlete who was recently photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the cover of US magazine Vanity Fair.
Reports indicate that the three covers raised around $55,000 for the auction held last night in New York at the AmfAR Inspiration Gala.
Addressing the crowd, Cyrus reportedly said that she hoped her recent work drawing attention to the plight of some members of the LGBT community would make her parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, proud.
“I just hope this makes my parents proud and somehow makes up for all of the s*** that I did,” she told the crowd as she accepted the Inspiration Award from Kenneth Cole.
