The singer, who is currently on tour in Australia, whipped her ravenous followers into a speculative frenzy after she posted an image of herself kneeling on the ground being handcuffed by a uniformed officer on Twitter.
"Uh oh," she captioned the picture, before deleting it an hour later.
Not before, however, Australian police bosses cottoned onto the breech in strict protocol and launched an internal investigation.
According to reports, Allen was met by a number of fans and a handful of Federal officers when she landed at the Gold Coast Airport in Queensland ahead of her on-stage appearance at Splendour In The Grass festival yesterday (29 July).
Allen apparently requested to have the shot taken with the officers as a prank.
"On July 27, Lily Allen was escorted by AFP members whilst transitting through Coolangatta airport at her request," an Australian Federal Police spokesman told The Mirror.
"Ms Allen requested a photo op so AFP members placed open handcuffs on her and posed for a photo which breached standard protocols.
"Ms Allen has NOT been arrested and is NOT being investigated.
"The AFP members are subject to internal measures."
A spokesperson for Lily Allen declined to comment on the incident.
