From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The comedian Simon Brodkin is more commonly known by his stage name Lee Nelson and by his alter ego Jason Bent.

Brodkin disrupted proceedings at Fifa on Monday when he ran into a conference in character as Bent and threw a wad of cash over Sepp Blatter’s head.

The 38-year-old has appeared on a number of BBC Three shows and has become known for his attempts at invading football pitches and conferences while dressed as a middle-ranking premiere league footballer.

He made his first attempt at accessing Blatter's Fifa press conference in May but failed to get into the secure area.

In light of his successful attempt, here are just a few of his infamous appearances.

Glastonbury 2015

Nelson was most recently spotted invading the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury as Kanye West was performing in retribution for West’s stage invasion while Taylor Swift was accepting an award.

X-Factor 2014

Brodkin disrupted a performance from Stereo Kicks during the X-Factor final, appearing on stage with a microphone dressed as a boyband member. He was swiftly dragged off-stage by security.

World Cup 2014

Brodkin almost made it onto the England World Cup squad plane with the team dressed as Bent in 2014. His plot was foiled at the last minute by the police who bundled him away from other footballers in memorable scenes.

Everton football match 2013

Brodkin was hauled before court in 2013 after getting on to the pitch with Manchester City players dressed as Bent for a warm-up shortly before a game at Goodison Park.
