From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Lamar Odom has been released from a Los Angeles hospital after making a “miraculous” recovery, his family has announced.

Odom was placed on life support after being discovered unconscious and face down in a Nevada brothel in October.

The Kardashian family asked for prayers from their followers after his hospitalisation, sparking fears for his life. His condition gradually improved and Odom was moved from a Las Vegas hospital to one in LA a few weeks later.

In November, his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian said Odom was “doing better every day” but stressed his recovery would be a long and arduous process.

Alvina Alston, a publicist for Odom’s aunt JaNean Mercer, released a statement confirming the former Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers has been released to a private facility, where he will continue to receive treatment.

“It is with extreme gratitude and appreciation to all of you around the world who have prayed without ceasing for Lamar, that we announce his transition to the next stage of his miraculous recovery at a new facility," she said.

”Lamar continues to make remarkable strides.“
