From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

During the screening of her reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians in the US, Kim engaged in a Twitter discussion with fans.
One of the scenes showed Kim enjoying a meal in New Orleans before flying to Paris to eat some cheesecake.
After tweeting “Of course I had to fly to Paris for fashion and foooood!!!”, one Twitter user responded calling her a “fat bitch” and said all the 35-year-old thinks about is food.
This led Kim to re-tweet the post to her 37 million followers alongside the message: “Yup!”.
Kim, who is pregnant with her second child and has a two-year-old daughter North with husband Kanye West, previously shut down body-shaming and constant speculation over her pregnancy with a nude Instagram picture.
Alongside the image she wrote: “First they say I'm too skinny so I have to be faking it...Now they say I'm too big so I have to be faking it...SMH! Some days I'm photographed before I eat and look smaller, some days I've just eaten and I look bigger.”
In August, the television personality told C Magazine the criticism she received over her body during her first pregnancy “changed” her and hit back at those who “called me fat for something I couldn’t control”.
