Prince George and Princess Charlotte are fast becoming the palace's go-to source for viral #content.

Kensington Palace has released a new photo of Prince George ahead of his second birthday.

The photo, shot by Mario Testino during Princess Charlotte's christening earlier this month, was released by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and shows William holding George in the gardens at Sandringham House.

It's the first time he's been seen in public for almost two whole weeks, when his sister Charlotte was baptised.

It’s actually technically an old photo, since it’s from the baptism on July 5th, but don’t let that get in the way of the happy almost-occasion of George’s almost-birthday.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “This photograph captures a very happy moment on what was a special day for The Duke and Duchess and their family. They are very pleased to share this picture as they celebrate Prince George's second birthday."

The photo shows George looking happy and content, just like a regular toddler.

By comparison, very few people seemed interested in celebrating Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall's birthday last week.
