Bieber was a guest on the radio station 40 Principales to promote his new album, Purpose. A video of the nine minute interview was posted by Vodaphone Yu on Wednesday and watched over 245,000 times before being taken down on Thursday.
The singer appeared despondent and increasingly bored by questions from his hosts during the exchange, who wanted to know if he was a sorry about being a superstar, who dresses him, and if he drinks in discos in the US now that he is legally old enough to do so.
He wasn’t amused when asked if he had ran out of people to thank for after winning so many accolades. “I just wanted to be in the moment," he replied testily. "I don't wanna have to think about all these different people during this time, I just wanna enjoy it.
“If they need me to thank them on an award show to make them feel validated, you weren't doing it for the right reasons anyway.”
The tipping point came when his hosts asked if we would like to help them “break the internet” with YouTubers lined up who have "hundreds of millions of followers". Bieber appeared to be getting up to participate in the challenge, but instead walked off through another door. He failed to return.
He has not directly addressed the incident but apologised to fans on Twitter for “feeling a little sick”.
