Your support makes all the difference.John Cleese knows a thing or two about chaotic, badly run hotels. The 76-year-old encountered his fair share of quandaries as the owner of Fawlty Towers, a fictional hotel in the seaside town of Torquay on the “English Riviera”.
But now the English actor and comedian, who played hotelier Basil Fawlty, is being forced to endure his own hotel stay from hell in Sweden.
Riled by the “building site” conditions at Elite Hotels in the city of Linkoping, Cleese has sent a series of angry, snarky tweets, along with photos to illustrate.
Cleese also took issue with the lack of soap dish inside the shower.
Responding to the complaints, hotel manager, Anne-Lie Boman, told the Independent: "We apologise if we caused our guests inconvenience but the hotel in Linköping is going through renovation. According to our plan it will be finished in June."
The prolific tweeter is currently touring Scandinavia with his rather morose show Last Time to See Me Before I Die.
Cleese co-wrote and starred in the iconic British BBC Two sitcom Fawlty Towers.
