From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Jeremy Corbyn has denied claims he was "dancing" in Whitehall prior to the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph and explained the photo in question was "cropped".

A spokesman for the Labour leader claimed images purporting to show the opposition leader “jigging” ahead of the commemorations had been “cropped”.

“Jeremy wasn't dancing. He was gesticulating whilst talking to Second World War veteran George Durack,” Mr Corbyn’s spokesperson said.

The Daily Mail have removed an article about the image. A spokesperson for the publication told The Independent: “We have been given guidance that the pictures are not as billed so it’s disingenuous to show the picture. He was actually engaged in a conversation with a war veteran but the photo was cropped”.

Mr Corbyn's spokesman said Labour was thinking about taking the issue to the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

The Labour leader laid a poppy wreath in commemoration of those who have given their lives to war. “In honour of those who must not have died in vain, we must bring about a peaceful world,” it read.
