From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Jennifer Lawrence has recalled her surprisingly bad attempt at a modelling career before her acting one became so successful.

During a pre-taped appearance of The Graham Norton Show, she reportedly discussed her short stint as a model with the host and fellow model-turned-actor Eddie Redmayne.

“You’ll never see the pictures I did for Abercrombie & Fitch,” the Joy actress said, according to E! News.

“They wanted natural pictures so they made us play football on the beach,” she explained, “The other models played football in a pretty way but not me! My face was bright red and I was sweaty with flaring nostrils. One of the girls even yelled, ‘Get her away from me!’”

Lawrence said that when her agent asked why the pictures hadn’t been used, they simply received a copy of the images as a reply.

“…Their only response was to send the pictures… you won’t see them in a store, for sure.”

Unlike Lawrence, Redmayne had a fairly successful modelling stint and was the face of Burberry. The Eton-educated actor was the face of the British fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2013 range along with another model-turned-actress, Cara Delevinge.

During the talk show segment, which will air on New Years Eve, Lawrence also discussed how much she dislikes New Years Eve.

“Everyone’s chasing a good time and it’s always a disappointment… I always end up drunk and disappointed,” she reportedly said.
