The 92-year-old actress, who starred in alongside Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier in films during the Forties and Fifties, fell following the cardiac arrest at her home in Westhorpe near Stowmarket, Suffolk.
She was found in “considerable disarray” by her housekeeper at about 11:30 on November 28, 2013 and died two days later at the West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds.
Coroner Peter Dean said that her death was caused by accidental injuries to her chest.
The police had launched an investigation into her death, after fears intruders had broken into her home but they decided no crime had been committed.
Pathologist Dr Sheila Purdy, who carried out the post mortem, said Ms Kent's death “resulted from chest injuries preceded by a cardiac event which resulted in the fall”.
The actress – who featured in 45 films during her career - had lived alone since the death of her husband, Austrian actor Josef Ramart, in 1989.
