After discovering that she was being paid less, Theron secured a deal worth "more than $10m" to match Hemsworth’s for their upcoming film The Huntsman, according to Page Six.
This news comes after the truth of pay disparity in Hollywood was revealed during the Sony hacking scandal.
Figures for American Hustle revealed that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were paid considerably less than their male co-stars.
A source told the website: "One knock-on effect from the Sony hacking scandal is that there will be more sensitivity about equal pay for actresses and hiring practices at movie studios."
