Gigi Hadid has criticised The Sun for suggesting she was aggressive towards a man who grabbed her and lifted her up in the middle of the street.

Dramatic video footage shows the supermodel screaming and shouting "Let me go" and trying to wriggle free after being picked up by a man wearing a hat and sunglasses at Milan Fashion Week. Her sister Bella was also filmed trying to free Hadid from his grasp until he let go and ran away.

The incident happened as both the Hadid sisters left the Max Mara show.

On Thursday, The Sun wrote an article containing pictures of the ordeal along with the headline: “Not Model Behaviour: Gigi Hadid aggressively lashes out and ELBOWS fan in the FACE after he tries to pick her up.”

Hadid reacted by sharing a Huffington Post reporter’s suggestion the headline should be re-written, affirming she absolutely has the right to defend herself from being “man-handled by a complete stranger”.

It is believed The Sun then changed its headline to reflect events as it now reads: “Furious Gigi Hadid lashes out and ELBOWS a fan in the FACE after he tries to pick her up”. It has now changed again to: "Don't Mess With Gigi: Astonishing moment model Gigi Hadid ELBOWS prankster in the face when he pounces on her in the street and lifts her off the floor."

Hadid is not the first high-profile woman to be grabbed by a stranger in the street. In 2014 during Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian-West was left visibly shaken after being grabbed as she made her way to her car through a plethora of paparazzi.
