Drew Barrymore reproduces, gives baby disappointingly average name
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In case you haven’t already heard, Drew Barrymore has officially reproduced.
Which is entirely boring for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it’s kind of what thousands of women do every year, but because she’s a famous person, and not an average Jane, it makes the news.
Secondly, it’s not the first time she’s done it. She’s already a mum to her now 19-month-old daughter Olive. A repeat offender.
Thirdly, the only thing that makes a baby story remotely interesting is when the famous person involved names their offspring something farcical. Like raindrop. Or mulletchops (see the gallery below for details).
Sadly, Barrymore and her art dealer husband Will Kopelman opted for a disappointingly average moniker, and therefore scuppered the only chance they had of elevating a mundane nib into a vaguely intriguing piece that, for what it’s worth, at least raises a few laughs.
“Happy to announce that today we are the proud parents of our second daughter, Frankie Barrymore Kopelman,” the couple said in an official statement to People earlier.
“Olive has a new little sister, and everyone is healthy and happy!”
You’re welcome. Here are some pictures of her eating loads of Chinese a few days ago, which the Daily Mail have ludicrously suggested could have brought on the labour:
