Donald Trump has become a grandfather for the eighth time – and it seems unlikely he had much of a say over the name of the latest member of the Trump dynasty.

The Republican frontrunner’s daughter Ivanka, 34, gave birth to son Theodore on Sunday. Theodore is the third child of Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner who owns the New York Observer.

She announced the news on Twitter, sharing a photo of herself and her son writing her “heart is full”.

Some Twitter users soon pointed out that Thoedore is often shortened to the name shared by his biggest rival in the GOP nomination race, Ted Cruz.

Relations between the pair hit a new low when Trump tweeted a picture of his wife, Meliana, and Mr Cruz’s wife, Heidi, in an attempt to draw comparisons between the two.

Mr Cruz responded by telling him “real men don’t attack women”.

Theodore is Trump’s eighth grandchild and Ivanka and Jared’s third child. Trump’s eldest son, Donald Jr, has five children with his wife, Vanessa Haydon.
