A cake moulded into the shape of Donald Trump's head was delivered to his election night event, billed as the Republican's “victory party”.

Melissa Alt, 24, brought the sweet treat to the Hilton Midtown hotel in Manhattan, where Trump supporters gathered to await the presidential election result.

Ms Alt, from New Jersey, said she spent 50 hours making the chocolate cake and it was valued at around 7,000 dollars.

She said: “I made a Hillary cake for a client so I decided to make a Donald Trump cake.

“The hair was actually the easiest part. Everyone asks 'was it the hardest part?' I guess I find hair easy to sculpt.”

Ms Alt said she approached the Trump campaign about delivering the cake to the event but declined to say if she supported the presidential candidate.

The cake depicts Mr Trump in a suit and tie and shows his trademark hair style.
