28 July: His Excellency Senor Fernando Zelaya and Senora de Zelaya were received in farewell audience by The Queen and took leave upon His Excellency relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from the Republic of Nicaragua to the Court of St James's.
Sir Alec Guinness was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Member of the Order of Companions of Honour.
The Queen received the Bishop of Durham (the Right Reverend Anthony Turnbull) who was introduced into Her Majesty's presence by the Right Honourable Antony Newton MP (the Lord President of the Council) and did homage upon his appointment.
The Lord President of the Council administered the Oath.
The Bishop of Chelmsford (Clerk of the Closet) and the Household-in- Waiting were in attendance.
Mr Graham Burton was received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Indonesia.
Mrs Burton was also received by Her Majesty.
The Queen, Patron, National Council of Young Men's Christian Associations, and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended a Service of Thanksgiving in Westminster Abbey to mark the One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the Young Men's Christian Association and were received at the West Gate by the Dean of Westminster (the Very Reverend Michael Mayne) and inside the Great West Door by the President, National Council of Young Men's Christian Associations (the Lord Remnant), and the President, World Alliance of Young Men's Christian Associations (Mr Garbo Yaroson).
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Reception for the World Council of Young Men's Christian Associations at Lambeth Palace and were received by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Lady Farnham, Sir Kenneth Scott and Major James Patrick were in attendance.
The Duke of Edinburgh today attended the World Forestry Charter Gathering Luncheon at St James's Palace.
Sir Brian McGrath was in attendance.
28 July: The Duke of York this morning received Captain Rupert Maitland- Titterton upon relinquishing his appointment as Equerry to His Royal Highness.
28 July: The Prince Edward, Patron, this evening attended a Concert given by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, London SW7.
Lieutenant-Colonel Sean O'Dwyer was in attendance.
28 July: The Princess Royal, President, Save the Children Fund, today attended a Seventy Fifth Birthday Appeal Reception at the China Fleet Club, Saltash, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cornwall (the Viscount Falmouth).
Her Royal Highness, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, this afternoon visited the South Dartmoor Group at Crossways Riding School, Yelverton, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Devon (Lieutenant-Colonel the Earl of Morley).
Lady Carew-Pole was in attendance.
The Princess Royal, Patron, Scottish Rugby Union, was represented by Mr Kenneth Smith, President, at the Funeral of Mr Robert Munro, Senior Vice-President, which was held in Pilrig Dalmeny Church, Edinburgh, this afternoon.

28 July: The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince's Trusts, this afternoon gave a Garden Party for supporters of His Royal Highness's trusts in Wales.
KENSINGTON PALACE
28 July: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon today visited HMS Illustrious in Portsmouth, and attended the Ceremony of Re-Dedication.
Her Royal Highness was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire (Mrs Mary Fagan).
The Honourable Mrs Whitehead and Major the Lord Napier and Ettrick were in attendance.
YORK HOUSE
28 July: The Duke of Kent this evening took the Salute at the Royal Tournament, Earls Court, London SW5.
Mr Nicolas Adamson was in attendance.

The Duke of Kent attends a concert arranged by Music in Country Churches, St Peter and St Paul's Church, Clare, Suffolk. The Queen's Gallery opens between 10am and 5pm, and last admission is at 4.30pm.
Changing of the Guard
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Scots Guards.
