The Duke of Edinburgh was represented by Mr Brian McGrath.
5 May: The Prince Edward, Chairman, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Special Projects Group, this afternoon attended the launch of the Football Initiative between The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Football Association at St James's Palace.
His Royal Highness this evening attended a Dinner to meet the Western Samoa Rugby Sevens Team, the Groucho Club, 45 Dean Street, London W1.

5 May: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon this afternoon presided at the Annual General Meeting of the Royal Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Scottish Children's League which was held at the City Chambers, Glasgow.
Her Royal Highness was received on arrival by the Lord-Lieutenant for the City of Glasgow, The Right Hon The Lord Provost Robert Innes.

The Duchess of Kent, this morning opened the new Salisbury District Hospital, Odstock, Salisbury, and was met on arrival by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Wiltshire (Field Marshal Sir Roland Gibbs) and as Patron visited the Cancer Relief Macmillan Fund Unit within Salisbury District Hospital, Wiltshire.

4 May: Princess Alexandra today visited Northern Ireland and was received by Mr Jeremy Hanley MP (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland) and Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for County Down (Colonel William Brownlow).
Her Royal Highness opened new sheltered accommodation for Fold Housing Association at Loughview Fold, Holywood, and, subsequently, as Patron of Cystic Fibrosis Trust, attended a Reception for members for the Northern Ireland Branch at Hillsborough Castle, County Down.
Finally Princess Alexandra, Colonel- in-Chief, visited the 1st Battalion of The King's Own Royal Border Regiment at Ebrington Barracks, Londonderry.

5 May: Princess Alexandra this afternoon received Dame Josephine Barnes, President of the National Birthday Trust Fund, and the Hon Mrs Susan Baring, Chairman, upon relinquishing these appointments on the amalgamation of the Fund with Birthright.
Her Royal Highness and the Hon Sir Angus Ogilvy this evening attended a charity Gala Evening to mark the 75th Anniversary of the British Antique Dealers' Association, and in aid of the Macmillan Nurse Appeal, at the Duke of York's Headquarters, Chelsea, London SW3.
