ST JAMES'S PALACE

3 May: The Prince of Wales, Honorary Air Commodore, this afternoon visited Royal Air Force Valley, Anglesey, Gwynedd.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Welsh Historic Gardens Trust, this evening gave a dinner to discuss the foundation of a National Botanic Garden for Wales.

Commander Robert Fraser RN was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh pay a State Visit to Hungary. The Queen Mother attends a Reception at St James's Palace given to mark the 150th Anniversary of the Schoolmistresses' and Governesses' Benevolent Institution. The Prince of Wales, Patron, Abbeyfield Society, opens the Dorothy Hughes Abbeyfield House, Welshpool, Powys; and visits the new canal boat owned by the Heulwen Trust on the Montgomery Canal, Welshpool, Powys. The Princess of Wales opens The Westway EPICS (Elderly Persons' Integrated Care Service) Centre, London W10. The Princess Royal opens the new Headquarters of Britannia Life Limited, Glasgow; visits Gartnavel Royal Hospital, Glasgow, in celebration of its 150th Anniversary; and later opens the new factory of Barr & Stroud Limited. The Duke of Kent, President, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, presents the Annual Awards at the Royal Albert Hall, London SW7.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Welsh Guards.
