5 September: By command of the Queen, Sir Ashley Ponsonby Bt (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Oxfordshire) was present at Royal Air Force Brize Norton this evening on the arrival of The King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and welcomed His Majesty on behalf of Her Majesty.

6 September: Divine Service was held in Crathie Parish Church this morning.

The Reverend Bernard Lodge preached the sermon.

KENSINGTON PALACE

6 September: The Prince of Wales this evening attended a European Promenade Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, London SW7.

Mr Peter Westmacott was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Prince of Wales gives a reception for the Pentland South Pole Expedition at Kensington Palace, London W8. The Duke of York, Patron, attends a dinner to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Aycliffe Centre for Children at the County Hall, Durham. The Princess Royal visits the National Birds of Prey Centre to open the new barn, Newent, Gloucestershire. Princess Michael of Kent opens the International Watch, Clock and Jewellery Fair at Earl's Court, London SW5.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts The Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am.
