16 October: By command of The Queen, the Viscount Goschen (Lord- in-Waiting) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this evening upon the Departure of The President of the Republic of Zambia and Mrs Chiluba and bade farewell to The President and Mrs Chiluba on behalf of Her Majesty.
16 October: The Prince Edward, Chairman, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Special Projects Group, today visited Kent and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant (the Lord Kingsdown).
His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Reception in support of the Centre d'Hardelot and met participants of the Kent Post Office Youth Challenge at County Hall, Maidstone.
The Prince Edward this evening attended the Kent Youth and Community Service Annual Staff Awards at St George's Centre, Chatham Maritime.
Mrs Richard Warburton was in attendance.
17 October: Miss Annette Wilkin was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested her with the Insignia of a Member of the Royal Victorian Order.

17 October: The Prince of Wales, Colonel-in-Chief, the Gordon Highlanders, this evening received Lieutenant General Sir Peter Graham (Colonel) and retired members of the Regiment.

17 October: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, this afternoon attended a Service of Praise and Dedication to mark the launch of the Abbey Appeal in Tewkesbury Abbey.
Her Royal Highness was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Gloucestershire (Mr Henry Elwes).
Mrs Jane Stevens was in attendance.
17 October: The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, was present this evening at a Concert at Corn Exchange, Cambridge, and was received on arrival by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire (Mr James Crowden).

Changing of the Guard
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion the King's Regiment mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the King's Regiment.
Windsor Castle
The Precincts at Windsor Castle open between 10.30am and 4pm. The State Apartments open between 10.30am and 5pm.
