13 October: The Queen received His Excellency Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the Commonwealth Secretary General.
His Excellency Profesor Cyril Foray was received in audience by Her Majesty and presented the letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Republic of Sierra Leone in London.
His Excellency was accompanied by the following members of the High Commission:
Mr Modu J. Sesay (Deputy High Commissioner), Mr Foday IS Kallon (Counsellor/Head of Chancery), Mrs Alice Ballah-Conteh (Counsellor), Mr Victor A. Jones (Consular Officer), Mr AK Saracouli (Financial Attache) and Mr Sylvester Zack-Williams (Information Officer).
Mrs Foray was also received by The Queen.
Sir David Gillmore (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present and the Household-in-Waiting were in attendance.
His Excellency Monsieur Bernard Dorin and Madame Dorin were received in farewell audience by Her Majesty and took leave upon His Excellency relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from the French Republic to the Court of St James's.
His Excellency Mr Tadeusz de Virion and Mrs de Virion were received in farewell audience by The Queen and took leave upon His Excellency relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from the Republic of Poland to the Court of St James's.
Mr Peter Hinchcliffe was received in audience by Her Majesty and kissed hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at Amman.
Mrs Hinchcliffe was also received by The Queen.
Her Majesty this afternoon opened the renovated headquarters of the Prudential Corporation, Holborn, London EC1, and was received by the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor (Sir Francis McWilliams) and the Mayor of the London Borough of Camden (Councillor Ramen Bhattacharyya).
The Queen unveiled a commemorative plaque before touring the building, escorted by the Chairman (Sir Brian Corby).
The Hon Mary Morrison, the Rt Hon Sir Robert Fellowes and Lieutenant-Colonel Blair Stewart-Wilson were in attendance.
The President of the Republic of Zambia and Mrs Chiluba visited Her Majesty this evening.
13 October: The Prince Edward, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon held a meeting at Buckingham Palace.
His Royal Highness, Patron, the London Mozart Players, this evening attended a Concert and Dinner at St James's Palace.
Mrs Richard Warburton was in attendance.
13 October: The Princess Royal, President, Chartered Institute of Transport, this morning visited Waterloo International Terminal, London SE1, and afterwards visited Eurotunnel, Folkestone, Kent.

Changing of the Guard
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Irish Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Scots Guards.
Windsor Castle
The Precincts at Windsor Castle open between 10.30am and 4pm. The State Apartments open between 10.30am and 5pm.
