9 October: The Princess Royal, Patron, Minchinhampton Centre for the Elderly, accompanied by Commander Timothy Laurence RN, this evening attended a Piano Recital at Stroud Subscription Rooms, Stroud, Gloucestershire.

9 October: Miss Jane Walker-Okeover has succeeded the Lady Elizabeth Basset as Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

ST JAMES'S PALACE

9 October: The Prince of Wales this afternoon attended the inauguration of the Warrington Project at the Town Hall, Warrington, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cheshire (Mr William Bromley-Davenport).

Commander Robert Fraser RN was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

9 October: The Duke of Gloucester, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Logistic Corps, this morning attended the Lamb Trophy, Military Skills Competition, Princess Royal Barracks, Blackdown, Deepcut, Camberley, Surrey.

Major Nicholas Barne was in attendance.

10 October: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, Grand President (St John Ambulance), this afternoon attended the Order of St John (South and West Yorkshire) Triennial Service of Rededication and Presentation of Awards, in Wakefield

Cathedral.

Her Royal Highness was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire (Mr John Lyles).

Lady Aird was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Duke of Edinburgh, International President of World Wide Fund for Nature, and Trustee, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Foundation, begins a visit to Canada. The Princess Royal opens Tonbridge and Malling Housing Association's new sheltered scheme for the elderly, Tonbridge, Kent; as Patron of the National Autistic Society, visits the Centre for Social and Communication Disorders, Elliott House, Bromley, Kent; as Patron, the Butler Trust, visits HM Prison, Blantyre House, Goudhurst, Cranbrook, Kent; and as Honorary President, Chartered Institute of Transport, is inaugurated as President of the Institute at the Royal Institute of British Architects, London W1. The Princess Margaret, visits Kelham Island Museum, Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The Duchess of Gloucester, President, Royal School of Needlework, presents the apprentices' certificates at a reception at Hampton Court Palace, Hampton Court, Surrey.

The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace opens between 2pm and 5pm.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am.

Windsor Castle

The Precincts at Windsor Castle open between 10.30am and 4pm. The State Apartments open between 10.30am and 5pm.
