3 October: The Duke of York this afternoon departed the Convent and returned to HMS Cottesmore in Gibraltar.
Captain Neil Blair RN, Mr Geoffrey Crawford and Captain Rupert Maitland-Titterton were in attendance.

3 October: The Duke of Kent was represented by the Lord Farnham at the Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Mr Alan Ferris which was held at St Luke's Church, Walton-on-the-Hill, Liverpool this afternoon.
ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS
The Princess of Wales visits the Missing Persons Bureau at Roebuck House, London SW14. The Princess Royal opens the new Ophthalmology Department at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, Hampshire, for the Portsmouth Hospital Trust; as Patron, Victim Support, opens the new premises, The Lodge, Hilsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire; and as President, Riding for the Disabled Association, attends an activity session to celebrate the RDA Isle of Wight Group's 21st Anniversary, Whippingham, East Cowes, Isle of Wight. The Duchess of Kent, Patron, the Restoration of Appearance and Function Trust, opens the Leopold Muller Building at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, Middlesex.
Changing of the Guard
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Irish Guards.
