BUCKINGHAM PALACE

11 March: The Hon David Gore- Booth was received in audience by The Queen and Kissed Hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at Riyadh.

Mrs Gore-Booth was also received by The Queen.

Mr Justice Singer was received by The Queen upon his appointment as a Justice of the High Court when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Bachelor.

His Excellency Mr Stephen Chiketa and Mrs Chiketa were received in farewell audience by The Queen and took leave upon His Excellency relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for the Republic of Zimbabwe in London.

ST JAMES'S PALACE

11 March: The Prince of Wales received the Minister for Trade (Mr Richard Needham MP) and Mr Stephen Day (Senior British Trade Commissioner, Hong Kong) at St James's Palace.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Project DARC Star Territorial Army Everest Expedition and the Reserve Forces Ulysses Trust, later attended a Presentation, the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7.

The Prince of Wales, Royal Bencher, Gray's Inn, this evening attended a Student Reception and Presentation in the Hall, Gray's Inn, London WC1.

Commander Robert Fraser RN was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

11 March: The Princess of Wales this morning visited Chiswick Family Rescue, Chiswick, London W4.

Mr Patrick Jephson was in attendance.

YORK HOUSE

11 March: The Duchess of Kent, Patron, United Response, this evening attended the 20th Anniversary Launch Reception at the Imperial War Museum, London SE1.

Mrs David Napier was in attendance.

Luncheon

The Queen, with Prince Edward, held a luncheon party yesterday at Buckingham Palace. The guests were:

Miss Joanna Lumley (actress); The Rev Kathleen Richardson (President of the Methodist Conference); Sir Norman Foster (architect); Mr Marc de Leval (Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street); Mr Brian Pitman (Chief Executive, Lloyds Bank plc); Dr Jonathan Sacks (Chief Rabbi); Mr Anthony Smith (President, Magdalen College, Oxford); Sir Peter Yarranton (Chairman, the Sports Council).

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Prince of Wales visits the London Clinic, London W1; and, as President, the Royal Naval Film Corporation, attends the Annual General Meeting and Lunch on board HMS Marlborough.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am.
