17 July: The Duke of York today attended the Open Golf Championships at the Royal St George's, Sandwich, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Kent (the Lord Kingsdown).
Captain Neil Blair RN was in attendance.
17 July: The Prince Edward, Patron, the Ocean Youth Club, today visited Tyne and Wear and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant (Colonel Sir Ralph Carr-Ellison).
His Royal Highness this morning visited Walker School, Newcastle.
The Prince Edward afterwards visited the Sail Training Ships and the Ocean Youth Club's vessels at Newcastle Quay.
His Royal Highness later started the Parade of Sail from the Harbourmaster's Cutter at Tyne Bridge and subsequently attended a Reception at Walker Technology Park, Newcastle.
The Prince Edward this afternoon attended a Luncheon on board the Gryphon A at McNulty Offshore Services Limited, South Shields.
Lieutenant-Colonel Sean O'Dwyer was in attendance.
His Royal Highness, Patron, the London Mozart Players, and President, the Lord's Taverners, this evening attended a 'Summer Prom' and Dinner at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon, Surrey.
Mrs Richard Warburton was in attendance.
18 July: By command of The Queen, the Viscount Astor (Lord-in-Waiting) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this morning upon the Departure of The Duchess of Kent for Egypt and bade farewell to Her Royal Highness on behalf of Her Majesty.
