3 May: The Right Hon John Major MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

The Duke of Edinburgh this evening attended a Reception and Dinner in aid of the Leonora Children's Cancer Fund and Medical Emergency Relief International at Spencer House, London SW1.

Sir Brian McGrath was in attendance.

His Royal Highness was represented by Sir Brian Shaw at the Thanksgiving Service for the Life of the Earl of Inchcape which was held in Southwark Cathedral this morning.

The Lady Susan Hussey has succeeded Lady Abel Smith as Lady-in-Waiting to The Queen.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

3 May: The Prince Edward, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, today gave a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

3 May: The Princess Royal, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, this morning attended the official launch of Midlands Fund-raising at the Forest of Arden Hotel Golf and Country Club, Maxstoke Lane, Meriden, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Warwickshire (Captain the Viscount Daventry).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Sense, the National Deaf-Blind and Rubella Association, this afternoon attended the naming ceremony of The Princess Royal Centre, 4 Church Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, followed by Luncheon at the Botanical Gardens, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for West Midlands (Mr Robert Taylor).

Mrs Andrew Feilden was in attendance.

The Princess Royal, Commandant- in-Chief, St John Ambulance and Nursing Cadets, later attended a Grand Prior Cadet Reception at Buckingham Palace.

ST JAMES'S PALACE

3 May: The Prince of Wales today visited Cambridge and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire (Mr James Crowden).

His Royal Highness, Chairman, Isaac Newton Trust, this morning attended a Reception at Trinity College.

The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry, 1 Trumpington Street.

His Royal Highness this evening attended the Game Conservancy Ball at Syon Park, Brentford, Middlesex.

KENSINGTON PALACE

3 May: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon was present this evening at a Gala Preview of the British Antique Dealers' Association Fair held in aid of the Cancer Relief Macmillan Fund, at The Duke of York's Headquarters, Chelsea, London SW3.

Mrs Jane Stevens was in attendance.

3 May: The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Kensington Society, this morning received Mrs Gay Christiansen on relinquishing the appointment of Honorary Secretary of the Society.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron and Trustee, attends receptions for young people who have reached the Gold Standard in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at St James's Palace; presents the 1994 Templeton Prize at Buckingham Palace; and as Grand Master, attends the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators Annual Livery Dinner, Stationers' Hall, London EC4. The Prince of Wales attends the Newspaper Society's annual luncheon at the Hilton Hotel, London W1. Buckingham Palace

The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace opens between 10am and 5pm, and last admission is at 4.30pm. The Royal Mews opens between 12pm and 4pm, and last admission is at 3.30pm.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; the 1st Battalion of Irish Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Welsh Guards.

Windsor Castle

The Precincts and State Apartments at Windsor Castle open between 10am and 6pm.
