8 March: The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

CLARENCE HOUSE

8 March: Air Commodore Ruth Montague today had the honour of being received by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Commandant- in-Chief, Women's Royal Air Force, upon relinquishing her appointment as Director of the Women's Royal Air Force.

The Lady Angela Oswald has succeeded Mrs Michael Gordon- Lennox as Lady-in-Waiting to Her Majesty.

ST JAMES'S PALACE

8 March: The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the Body Shop Headquarters, Watersmead, Littlehampton, and was received by Major-General Sir Philip Ward (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex).

His Royal Highness afterwards opened the new Theatre and Performing Arts Complex at Roedean School, Brighton, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for East Sussex (Admiral Sir Lindsay Bryson).

The Prince of Wales later visited Charleston Farmhouse, near Firle, Lewes.

Major Patrick Tabor was in attendance.

YORK HOUSE

8 March: The Duke of Kent, Field Marshal, today visited the British Army of the Rhine, Germany.

Captain Alexander Tetley was in attendance.

THATCHED HOUSE LODGE

8 March: Princess Alexandra this afternoon opened St Faith's Family Centre, Cleeve Road, Leatherhead, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Surrey (Mr Richard Thornton).

The Lady Mary Mumford was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Prince of Wales opens the new Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit, Royal Naval Hospital, Gosport, Hampshire; visits the Royal Hospital and Home, London SW15; and attends a reception to mark the 800th anniversary of the Service of Coroners to the Crown at St James's Palace.

Buckingham Palace

The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace opens between 10am and 5pm, and last admission is at 4.30pm. The Royal Mews opens between 12pm and 4pm, and last admission is at 3.30pm.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Irish Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Scots Guards.

Windsor Castle

The Precincts and State Apartments at Windsor Castle open between 10am and 4pm.
