21 June: Mr Justice Lightman was received by The Queen upon his appointment as a Justice of the High Court when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Bachelor.

Major-General Robert Corbett was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Major General Commanding Household Division when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Lieutenant-Governor of Manitoba and Mrs Dumont were received by The Queen.

Her Majesty, Patron, Royal Humane Society, received Mrs Beryl Smith and presented her with the Stanhope Gold Medal.

Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy (President), Mr Peter Bedford (Chairman) and Sir Rupert Clark Bt (President, Royal Humane Society of Australasia) were present.

Miss Helen Spiller was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested her with the Insignia of a Member of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Right Hon John Major MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this

evening.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Master, this morning attended the Annual Court Meeting Church Service and Luncheon at Trinity House, London EC3.

Sir Brian McGrath was in attendance.

His Royal Highness, Honorary Member, British American Forces Dining Club, this evening attended a Reception and Beating of Retreat at HM Tower of London, London EC3.

Brigadier Miles Hunt-Davis was in

attendance.

The Hon Mary Morrison has succeeded the Lady Susan Hussey as Lady- in-Waiting to The Queen.

21 June: The Prince Edward, Chairman, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Special Projects Group, this evening held a meeting at Buckingham Palace.

21 June: The Princess Royal, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, this afternoon visited the Dauntsey Vale Group, Hulberts Green Farm, Brinkworth, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Wiltshire (Field Marshal Sir Roland Gibbs).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Sense, the National Deaf-Blind and Rubella Association, later opened the new group homes at 993 Oxford Road, Reading, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr John Henderson).

The Princess Royal visits Fairthorne Manor YMCA National Centre, Curdridge, Hampshire; as Commandant-in-Chief, St John Ambulance and Nursing Cadets, opens the new headquarters of Bishops Waltham Division, Bishops Waltham, Hampshire; and opens the new club house for the Warsash Sailing Club, Warsash, Hampshire. The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, London College of Music, attends a concert at St Mary's Church, Slough, Berkshire.

The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace opens between 10am and 5pm, and last admission is at 4.30pm. The Royal Mews opens between 12pm and 4pm, and last admission is at 3.30pm.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion The King's Regiment mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Irish Guards.
