From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Magic Mike XXL actor went head to head against his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum for a ‘Tatum takeover’ to kick off the second series with his version of Run The World (Girls).
Complete with a blonde wig, black bra, knee-high boots and a feathered shrug, Tatum certainly looked the part and the audience weren’t surprised to find he had the Beyonce moves down to a tee considering some of his most memorable roles (Step Up and Magic Mike).
However, a big shock did come halfway through when Beyoncé joined Tatum on stage to finish the lip sync which left Dewan Tatum on the floor, literally.
Tatum and Beyoncé finished their routine with the fiercest of stares before Tatum took to the floor to bow to 'Queen Bey'.
The video comes as it’s revealed Beyoncé will join Coldplay for their half-time show at the Superbowl in February.
Lip Sync Battle starts in the UK tonight at 8pm on Channel 5.
