From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

ABC has already promised the interview with the former Olympian will be “far-ranging” but refused to elaborate any further on what Jenner and Sawyer would discuss.
The 15-second trailer only shows Jenner from the back and his silhouette from the side. It does not show any part of his face. The promotional video is accompanied by the words: “The interview, the journey, the decisions, the future.”
Jenner, the step-father of Kim Kardashian, has been at the centre of media speculation about his appearance and gender for weeks. InTouch magazine provoked outrage when it used a manipulated version of Jenner’s face on its cover, adding make-up and the strap-line ‘My Life As a Woman’.
Kardashian has vocally supported Jenner throughout the media whirlwind, which saw InTouch accused of transphobia.
“He’s our dad so we support him no matter what, and I think when the time is right, he’ll talk about whatever he wants to talk about,” she told E!Online. “I just think it’s his story to talk about, not really mine.”
It is understood that the interview was shot in February, before Jenner was involved in a high-way car crash. It will air on 24 April 9pm EST.
