From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Bruce Jenner has been the subject of rumours that he's in the process of changing his gender for almost a year, and now the first clip of his tell-all interview has been released.
Jenner - once a legendary decathlete and now a reality TV star - has attracted a huge amount of publicity after speculation over whether his appearance has changed over the last 12 months, but now he is setting the record straight himself.
In the interview with Diane Sawyer, Jenner speaks emotionally about his family, saying: "I can't let myself hurt them. They're the only ones I'm concerned with."
Jenner has 10 children - six biological and four step-children - which includes Kourtney, Khloe, Kim and Rob Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Brody, Burt, Casey and Brandon Jenner. While his children are not thought to speak during the interview, they are supportive of their father.
Addressing the rumours in January, Kim Kardashian said: “He’s our dad so we support him no matter what, and I think when the time is right, he’ll talk about whatever he wants to talk about. I just think it’s his story to talk about, not really mine.”
Jenner has not previously spoken about the rumours. This didn't stop magazine InTouch running a front cover with a picture of Jenner PhotoShopped so he looked like he was wearing make-up with the cover-line "My Life As A Woman". The full interview is scheduled to air on Friday 24 April.
