Your support makes all the difference.Melbourne is to get a 78-storey skyscraper in the shape of a dancer from a Beyonce music video, with its planners lifting the aesthetic from her 'Ghost' vid.
In a press release, architecture firm described the Premier Tower's complex 'vertical cantilever' form which will give "the best results in terms of structural dispersion, frequency oscillation and wind requirements".
"For those more on the art than science side," it added, "we will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic – we’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyoncé’s Ghost."
The video in question mostly saw Beyonce shrouded in billowing black fabric, but the building seems to have been inspired by one of its dancers who writhes in a stretchy, grey, full-body sock type thing.
Situated near Melbourne’s Southern Cross railway station, the tower will feature luxury apartments, retail spaces and hotel rooms, three things with which Bey is fairly well-acquainted.
The principle of Occam's razor was also an inspiration for the building's simplistic design.
"This might be the first time you’ve heard us say this but at our new mixed-use project at 134 Spencer Street there’s actually less than meets the eye," the firm added.
"[It has a] pure and simple, first principles rationale – Occam himself would be proud. This project is the culmination of our significant research into how to best work with individual site and climatic constraints, brought together using our new parametric modelling techniques."
This is believed to be the first R&B singer-inspired building, at least until London hurries up and makes a church shaped like Nicki Minaj.
